Careers at Niice

Javascript Developer - Node.js

We're looking for a great JavaScript Developer who is interested in working with Node.js and has experience working on the back end of a large, real-time application.

Our technology stack is built around JavaScript and Ruby. We use React and Next.js for our user interface and a combination of Ruby on Rails, Node.js and Postgres for our back end. We’re in the process of modernizing our infrastructure to take more advantage of serverless technologies and we need your help.

Responsibilities

We’re a small team, so your role will involve building & maintaining the entire Niice product, from infrastructure to interface, but with a keen focus on the server side of things. You’ll work directly with the founder and our existing engineering team to design, develop, and maintain a sophisticated and modern web application.

You will:

  • Take a prominent role in designing and implementing improvements to the core of the Niice product
  • Take ownership of new features and write clean, maintainable code to deliver on the Niice product roadmap
  • Identify and fix bugs in the existing system
  • Work closely with the founder to come up with creative and innovative solutions to challenging technical problems and help drive the design of the whole system architecture
  • Take an active role in developing junior engineers

Requirements

You’ll have relevant experience with using JavaScript to build web applications, particularly the underlying infrastructure that supports them. You'll love trying out new ways of doing things and have an interest in server side technology.

You'll need practical experience, with the following technologies:

  • Node.js
  • React.js
  • RESTful or GraphQL APIs
  • AWS Lambda
  • Postgres (or another SQL database)

Benefits

  • We'll give you 30 days of holiday every year (including bank holidays)
  • Interesting work. We work on 5 week cycles: a 3 week sprint of focused product work, 1 week for general bug fixes and 1 week ‘Fallow’ to improve the product however you like.
  • Remote friendly. If you live in Northern Ireland and don't mind traveling to the office (post pandemic) a few times a month, you can work from where ever you like.
  • Team building Fridays. Most Friday afternoons, we blow off some steam and play some games together.

How to Apply

Please send your CV along with a link to any code samples you’re proud of and would like to share with us.

Unfortunately we are not in a position to sponsor visas or offer remote work outside of Northern Ireland.
